Sarah’s Fund Brings Christmas Cheer to Sevier County Seniors

Sevier County seniors celebrate Christmas during monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.

The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center recently held its December Sarah’s Fund Day, providing a fun-filled day of Christmas cheer for Sevier County seniors. Sixteen seniors were in attendance for the festivities, where they enjoyed gathering together to play games and exchange gifts after indulging in a delicious breakfast.

Celebrating the Spirit of the Season.

To kick off the day’s celebration, the seniors were taken to a local favorite breakfast buffet for a good time of fellowship and great southern food. During the holiday season, many of our community’s seniors do not have any relatives nearby and the opportunity to do something outside of their homes or assisted living facilities is few and far between. So, treating them to breakfast at a restaurant was a big delight!

After eating to their heart’s content, everyone was taken back to the Senior Activity Center for an afternoon of fun and games and a “white elephant” gift exchange with a gift provided by a local craft vendor. There were big smiles all around as each senior in attendance was given a $40 Food City Gift Card for Christmas, provided by Sarah’s Fund and decorated into cute little Santa Sleighs by the Senior Center activities staff. Everyone was so grateful for their gifts and had a blast celebrating Christmas together with friends.
