S.D. Professionals Donates $10,000 to Safe Harbor

SD Pros Donates $10,000 to Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center of the Smokies.

At the peak of the 2021 holiday season, S.D. Professionals President Jacob Timmons visited Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center of the Smokies, bearing gifts to spread some Christmas cheer. On December 20, Jacob presented Safe Harbor Executive Director Maggie McNally a jumbo-sized check for $10,000 as part of their ongoing support for the nonprofit organization.

Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center of the Smokies is an organization dedicated to serving children and adolescents who are victims of severe physical and sexual abuse. Through intervention, treatment and prevention education, Safe Harbor provides a safe haven for abuse victims who need help. Established in 2005 and located in Sevierville, TN, Safe Harbor is truly a place where hope and healing begin for the most vulnerable among us, our children.

S.D. Professionals has always been a strong advocate for Sevier County and surrounding communities. Notably, in 2018, when SD Pros partnered with Dolly Parton’s My People Activity Center to establish the Sarah Timmons Activities Program, better known as Sarah's Fund. The program provides monthly activities and assistance to Sevier County, TN, senior citizens who live at home or are in short and long-term assisted living facilities. Now, in supporting Safe Harbor, we hope to make a difference in the lives of our community's younger generation.

"Our team was deeply moved by Safe Harbor's mission and when we saw a need that we could help with, we knew we had to jump into action," shares Jacob. "By taking care of our children in Sevier County, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow, and we believe that will make a tremendous impact on the future of our community."

A Better Tomorrow.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, referrals for specialized mental health services reached an all-time high and continues to rise, leading to the largest waiting list Safe Harbor has seen in its 16-year history. In an effort to provide trauma-focused mental health services to more children than ever before, SD Pros launched Safe Harbor's "A Better Tomorrow" campaign in November, with a goal of raising $50,000 within one month to provide financial resources to hire and train a fourth child therapist.

Timmons continued,

“We're incredibly proud of our involvement with Safe Harbor, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children and families in our community.”

To date, “A Better Tomorrow” campaign has raised over $45,855! With less than 10 days to go, you can help ensure they meet, even exceed their goal by donating at GiveToSafeHarbor.org.
