Sevier County Seniors Enjoy a Pontoon Tour of Douglas Lake During Monthly Sarah’s Fund Day.

The Dolly Parton My People Senior Activity Center recently held its monthly Sarah’s Fund Day on June 14, giving Sevier County Seniors the opportunity to get out and enjoy the sunshine. A small group of five ladies went on this month’s excursion, during which they enjoyed an afternoon pontoon boat ride on Douglas Lake.

Making Waves and Catching Rays.

Diane Cobble, owner at Mountain Cove Marina, surprised the Sarah’s Fund group by donating a pontoon boat rental to enjoy during this month’s fun-filled day. When they heard the news, everyone was so excited about the opportunity to get out and spend some time on Douglas Lake! For many seniors in the group, it has been years since they have been able to enjoy the outdoors. A few were so happy they were in tears. A handful of seniors decided to stay behind due to the heat, and while they were disappointed about missing out on the fun excursion, they were very happy to receive special goodie bags so that they didn’t miss out on the fun completely.

After boarding the pontoon at Mountain Cove Marina, the ladies thoroughly enjoyed the fun of cruising around Douglas Lake, soaking in the sunshine and enjoying the breeze. Lunch was served on the boat, and everyone delighted in hours of outdoor fun, cruising, eating and spending time together before they made their way back to the Senior Center.

The employees of the Senior Center who head up these events enjoy the special days as much as the seniors who participate in them, and it’s an honor for Sarah’s Fund to provide such joyous days for these precious people.
